As a software engineer who’s had the privilege (and challenge) of working from home while raising a family, I understand the unique struggles and joys that come with this territory. Today, I’m here to share some of the wisdom I’ve gained on how to strike that delicate balance.

1. Create a Family Schedule:

Structure is your best friend when balancing work and family life. Create a family schedule that includes work hours, playtime with the kids, and breaks. Having a visual schedule can help everyone in the family know what to expect each day.

2. Set Boundaries:

Establish clear boundaries between work and family time. When you’re working, communicate to your kids that you’re unavailable, and when it’s family time, put away work-related distractions. It’s easier said than done, but it’s essential.

3. Prioritize Tasks:

Your to-do list can feel never-ending. Prioritize your tasks, focusing on the most important ones during work hours. This way, you can be efficient with your time and still have quality moments with your family.
